The youth of God’s Blessings Corp. were full of questions Friday afternoon during their outdoor class at Saunders Springs Nature Preserve in Radcliff.

Vince Carman, chairman of the Radcliff Forestry Board, answered all their questions as he showed them the cave, pond, lake and flora at the nature preserve.

“Here’s a cool fact about the water in the cave. It’s nice and cool all summer long because it comes out of a cave and the water running out is 55 degrees,” he told the group at one point during the jaunt. He explained to the children the water remains at 55 degrees even during the winter.

“Why is it 55 degrees? Because of the geothermal effect. The water is coming from underground. Therefore the water is 55 degrees in the summer and 55 degrees in the winter.”

The youth even got to see some wildlife. For instance, a groundhog made an appearance, distracting the youth for a moment from Carman’s talk on local plants.

God’s Blessings Corp. is geared toward teaching youth about God, educational skills, life skills, health and morals. They are involved in several community activities and go on field trips in Kentucky and other states.

“We go to church, we learn about God, and we do fun activities including God and church. … We do lots of fun stuff,” group member Tatianna Wilson, 8, said.

Fellow group member, Anna Newsome, 10, added they’ve recently done an online educational scavenger hunt. She also noted they’ve been to the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter, have attended different camps, host bake sales, and organize gifts for the homeless.

Wilson and Newsome both said they were excited for Friday’s trip to Saunders Springs.

Beginning on Thursday, the group will host a Loving Our Youth Conference. The event is at 7 p.m. each Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through Nov. 1.

The conference can be found on Zoom.com. The meeting ID is 8996724139. The password is BC2Atp. It can also be viewed on the God’s Blessings Corporation Facebook page.

In terms of programming at Saunders Springs, Carman said they are always looking to add more. If anyone is interested, they can contact him at 270-219-2194 or [email protected]
